Mayor Walter Gray wants to debunk the myth Kelowna is unaffordable. “I don’t want to say Kelowna is average because it’s clearly way above average as a place to live, but when it comes to affordability Kelowna is average in Canada,” Gray told an Urban Development Institute lunch crowd Thursday at the Coast Capri Hotel.

The Urban Development Institute is an association of developers and related businesses which aims to partner in community building with communities and governments. In the past four years, especially in the Interior and the Okanagan, the economy portion of sustainability has certainly been front and centre. While a healthy economy (read balanced real estate market) is undeniably still a priority, sustainability itself requires balance.
